More Trolley Talk
âI hope itâs not her,â Amy said as the investigators made their way back to the trolley station to talk to Elizabeth. âIâd hate to think the tour guide I liked so much was a killer.â
âIâm not really looking forward to telling Lilly about that either,â said Heather. âBut Elizabeth did keep secrets from us. We need to ask her about it.â
Amy nodded, and then mused, âIt would make the ghost tour even scarier if people knew it was being led by a murderer.â
They arrived at the station and walked inside with Ryan and Peters. The four trolley employees were sitting around a table together inside the station, looking dour.
âOfficers,â Kyra said, greeting them. âIâm glad youâre here to talk to us again. Weâve just been sitting here, waiting for instructions on what to do.â
Casper nodded. âOur boss canât seem to decide if we should pause the tours longer out of respect for the dead, or if he should exploit the event and tell everyone to come on one of our tours because the ghosts attacked a guide.â
âThatâs a terrible thought,â said Elizabeth.
âBut the worst part is that heâs taking so long to decide,â said Simon. âI donât know how to answer the phones. I donât know what to tell potential guests.â
âI bet after you solve this, it will make things easier,â said Kyra.
âDo you have any leads?â asked Elizabeth.
âWellâ¦â Amy said, deliberately trailing off.
âWeâd like to speak to each of you individually,â said Ryan. âIt will allow us to get more in-depth about what you knew about Jacob Crawley.â
âWeâll start with you, Elizabeth,â said Peters.
âAll right,â Elizabeth said, looking a bit nervous.
âThis is good,â said Kyra. âMaybe they can get this all settled soon. Figure out which guest did it.â
Casper squeezed Elizabethâs shoulder supportively. Then all the coworkers left the room so the investigators could speak privately.
âYou were the one who seemed so nervous about Jacob Crawley before he was killed,â said Heather. âYou told us that you were relieved that he was all right.â
âThatâs true,â said Elizabeth. âWeâve worked together for a while now. I didnât want anything to happen to him. He wasnât taking the threat seriously, but I was worried about it.â
The investigators sat down at the table, and all looked at Elizabeth. She began playing with her fingers nervously. They were a dark red color that looked suitable for the haunted tours.
âThatâs why it was so surprising when we learned about Kerry Townsendâs complaint,â Heather continued.
âWho?â asked Elizabeth, looking at them all.
âKerry Townsend was one of the customers who complained to your boss about Jacobâs pranks,â said Peters.
âBut I donât see what that has to do with me,â said Elizabeth. âWhat prank did he play on her?â
âIt wasnât on her. It was on you,â said Heather.
âSomething about a bomb. Tick tock,â said Amy.
âOh,â Elizabeth said, frowning. âI do remember that prank. It wasnât very nice.â
âKerry said that you were very upset and were crying,â said Ryan.
âI should have known he was teasing because he always did joke,â Elizabeth said.
